R. Kelly sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering.

The artiste whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly – musician, entertainer, song writer and producer  will be serving 30 years in prison.

Kelly, who is 55, heard his fate in a New York federal courtroom. After he

was convicted last year for crimes of sex trafficking and racketeering, the artiste faced US District Judge Ann Donnelly, who when handing down sentencing, told Mr. Kelly that he had created "a trail of broken lives". Kelly was accused of using persons as enablers to feed his predatory habits of having sex with minors and creating videotapes of the encounters. He had been previously found guilty by a jury in 2021 in federal court in Brooklyn, New York. At that time, Kelly requested that the court delay his sentencing hearing until after the child pornography case in Illinois (Chicago), but Judge Donnelly denied the request and set the new date to June, 2022.

Court ruling:

On Count 1: Mr. Kelly will be serving 360 months

Count 2, 6, 8: 10 years

Count 3, 4, 5, 7, 9: 20 years

He was also required to pay a US $100,000 fine

Kelly was also required to pay restitution. Court hearing for restitution was set for September 28 @ 11:00 am

In a post trial press conference R. Kelly's lawyers said they would be appealing the 30 year sentence.
