DATING 101: Romance and good food: Four (4) tips for a successful date for foodies!

 Author: S. Gordon-Jeffery

Ahh! The smell of juicy, succulent meats being cooked on a grill, a nice, light glass of white wine, some fruit and great company. This sounds like the making of a legendary date! Well, it can be, if both parties are open to a scenario like this. Too often we do the usual: we go out to eat at a restaurant and we have a meal, yes, but no real fun dining experience. Of course you will say, "No, no what you described up top sounds too expensive."

What if I told you it doesn't have to be expensive, that you can do this at home and invite your date over for a sumptuous meal?! Okay. If you're up for it, check out the tips below:

Select a simple meal you both can prepare together.
If you've been dating the person (male or female) for a while now, you should know the basics. One of them being what they like to eat. It doesn't have to necessarily be a full course meal but something simple that they can't get enough of.  So, you can do grilled cheese sandwiches or hot dogs, even hamburgers. If you're more savvy you can do grilled chicken or ribs, a gifted cook can also jerk some pork or chicken or do a roast fish.

The objective is to get your date involved in the process so they can help you cook. They can help you prepare the meat (hot dogs, etc) or help with washing and preparing the natural seasoning you'll be using or help prep the veggies. It should be a simple menu for the two of you to try. If you're not okay with using a grill, you can try cooking on a regular stove but keep the food you prepare the simple kind. You can add any kind of bread or any other side dish you wish. The whole process should bring you closer together as you work as a team to achieve the common goal: an incredible date with good food.

Select a nice bottle of wine for the occasion
If you or your date, boyfriend/girlfriend are not much into drinking you can buy non-alcoholic. Try something with a fruity flavor. The idea is to try something new, spice things up a little. It may also impress your significant other when they see the amount of effort you're putting into making the date an enjoyable one.

Bring a wide range of fruit options.
You can make a fruit plate with some mango, pineapple and papaya slices. You can also add grapes, apples, cherries or other fruit that will complement the wine you will be serving. Melted chocolate covered strawberries are a good choice!

Chocolatey goodness
Try a chocolate based dessert. It could be a slice of cake or chocolate chip cookies or muffins. It could also be a box of chocolate candy. Most persons have a sweet tooth, so you can use that as a treat for the occasion.

Hey guys! Thanks for reading this article. Let me know if you put any of the tips to good use. Comment below. Thanks!
