How to write a resume: Resume Introduction: The Objective

A book or any other document is not a proper one without an introduction. For the resume' it is called a resume introduction. The resume introduction is known by various names depending on what the job seeker wants to highlight about themselves. It is often called an Objective, Career Summary or a Career Profile. Persons also include a sub-section called Career Highlights. Today we'll be looking at The Objective.

The Objective
The Objective is the most popular resume statement.
It tells the employer what you're looking for and what you hope to offer to the company or organization if selected. It is usually used by newly graduated job seekers (someone fresh out of high school or college) looking for a jump start on their career journey. A few years ago it was written something like this:

"To be employed as a Administrative Assistant in a fast paced environment."

Today, with the increase in the number of highly qualified, trained job applicants (that means you) entering the job market, certain skills have become more accessible to employers (they have more options to choose from), it's nearly impossible to grab an employer's attention with a dull objective statement like the one above.
If we were to write an objective statement for our client (note that we have also seen persons do this as well) it would look like this:

"Individual certified in secretarial skills level 2, seeks the opportunity to be employed in a successful business, contributing to the smooth running of the office environment."

An objective's purpose really is to convey to the employer your 'working ambition' (what job you're looking for), but with competition being so stiff, you will have to prove to him or her how your objective lines up with what they are looking for. Though the objective is best suited for a beginner in the job market, anyone can use the objective to their advantage.

COVID-19 VACCINES: The vaccines may cause "magnetic reactions": Fact or Conspiracy theory?

Author: S. Gordon-Jeffery It was only recently that I was chatting with a friend and he told me about these strange videos being shared across social media, of persons who took the Pfizer shot now able to attract magnets to their arm  — the arm they got the Pfizer shot in.  Indeed, that was a shock to me and I found it hard to believe. "No sah! Nutt'n cyaa guh suh!"  I said to myself, even as I listened.
